Data updates
16 October 2026
Improved the connection between Automobile World and Explore: all three themes now use the same prominent two-way navigation pattern. Localized remaining labels and separated transport into its own home category.
Added Automobile World and the interactive Explore automobile-graveyard calculator. Sources from OICA, IEA, WHO and Eurostat remain separate by period and geography. The support button now uses two occasional gentle pulses and is absent on the support page.
Added the Food Waste service and an Explore investigation comparing waste with world hunger; converted visible source URLs into active links; improved first-visit language detection, support-page localisation and wallet copy fallbacks; localised the previous release note and Explore measurement units.
Source releases are reviewed regularly. Material updates change the visible reference date and the sitemap last-modified date; animation alone does not.

Moved the While You Were Watching experiment to the top of every homepage. Improved result sharing with visible copy and social options, added hour formatting and correct unit forms, fixed decimal stability and made natural population increase exactly equal displayed births minus displayed deaths. Existing shared links remain supported. Localized experiment links and military-spending units were corrected.

Retired the Space Launches service and redirected its former URLs to the orbit service. Updated the EIA oil forecast, public-company snapshot, local counter boundaries, bundled population fallback and Dataset metadata.

Added dated local fallback snapshots for NASA EONET fire events and 2026 space launches. Added a machine-readable JSON catalogue for all 25 services and corrected the military-spending script.
